You can use an eSIM, or embedded SIM, to activate your cellular network. An eSIM is a digital SIM, unlike a physical SIM card that's inserted into your phone.
Since eSIMs are embedded in the device, they’re more secure and less damage-prone than physical SIM cards. You can also have multiple eSIM profiles on the same phone. You can switch between lines or manage international plans while traveling.
You can activate your eSIM during device onboarding or at any time in your device settings. You can set up a new eSIM or transfer an existing eSIM from another phone.
You can use 2 eSIM profiles at once if:
- You have a Pixel 7 or later phone.
- Your carrier allows this feature.
Use for international travel
To avoid roaming charges, you can use a prepaid eSIM from international carriers. You can download an international eSIM and activate it when you arrive at your destination.
