You can create Interactive reports that show ad unit nesting, or hierarchy. Use the Ad unit x dimensions, along with the flat or hierarchical table format, for a clear representation of ad unit hierarchy.
In the Ad unit x dimensions, x indicates the level of nesting for an ad unit. For example, "Ad unit 1" indicates a top-level ad unit.
The number of Ad unit x dimensions available depends on how your network has established its ad unit hierarchy. Interactive reports automatically displays the Ad unit x dimensions you can select based on your setup. For example, you might have up to "Ad unit 3" or "Ad unit 5."
Tip: While the existing "Ad unit (all levels)" dimension does indicate hierarchy, the Ad unit x dimensions let you click into the nested levels to view details.
To report on ad unit hierarchy:
- Sign in to Google Ad Manager.
- Create an Interactive report.
For details, visit Create an interactive report. - Click Select dimensions and metrics, and enter "Ad unit" in the search field.
- In the list of results, check the box next to each Ad unit x dimension that shows, such as "Ad unit 1," "Ad unit 2," and so on. Be sure to check all available Ad unit x boxes for a complete representation of ad unit hierarchy.
- Add any additional dimensions (
) or metrics (
) you want to include, such as Impressions.
- Select a table format:
- Flat
: The Ad unit x dimensions show horizontally, as column headers.
- Hierarchical (recommended)
: The Ad unit x dimensions show vertically, with each ad unit nested under its parent ad unit. You can review subtotals at each level of the hierarchy.
To view details at each level of nesting, click Expand.
- Flat
Example scenario: To report on level 2 ad units only, add "Ad unit 1" and "Ad unit 2" to your report. You can then review the results for "Ad unit 2" in the flat or hierarchical table format.
