Verify your identity

You're required to verify your personal information for your account once your earnings reach the verification threshold. You need to verify your identity to continue to show ads and receive payments from Google AdSense. This is to confirm the accuracy of your account information and protect you from fraud.

New identity verification process

Depending on your location, you may be asked to submit your government-issued photo ID and take a video selfie. AdSense is trialing this new process to improve user experience and strengthen its defenses against fraud. Any data collected as part of the new process will be used solely for verification purposes.

Learn more about verifying your identity using online verification.

When you're required to verify your identity, we place a temporary payments hold on your account. Note, you won't be asked to verify your address via PIN until after you've successfully verified your identity.

Note: You have 45 days from the date we first ask you to verify your identity to submit the required documents in your account. After 45 days, if you haven't provided the documents or we're still unable to verify your identity from the documents you have provided, we'll stop showing ads on your pages.

How to verify your identity

Sign in to your account and follow the instructions on your "Payments" page.

  • In AdSense, click Payments, then Verification check.
  • In AdMob, click Payments, then Verification.
Note: Verification can take up to 2 days.

Submit your documents

Here are some tips to successfully submit your documents:

  • Use the same full name in all the documents.
  • Submit documents that are current and not expired.
  • Submit both the front and back sides of your document.
  • Capture the entire document, the photo needs to be readable and in focus.
  • Keep your image free of reflections and glare.
  • Incomplete or obstructed documents or dark or blurry photos won't be accepted.
  • Uploading documents or photos other than your ID may result in account suspension.
  • If your document is two sided, capture the front and the back and upload both images.

Document requirements for individual accounts

Your ID document must be a government-issued ID such as a passport, national/state ID, driving license, or residence permit (depending on your country). Note this is not an exhaustive list.

Document requirements for organization accounts

  • Proof of organization document
  • Valid government-issued photo ID from an authorized representative
Note: Your proof of organization document must:
  • allow Google to confirm the current existence of the organization; expired documents or documents suggesting the organization does not exist or no longer exists can’t be accepted.
  • be issued by an issuing authority, i.e., federal/state/municipal government, public institution (tax authority, securities and exchange commission, etc.), chamber of commerce, business registry, etc. This does not include utility bills, bank statements, insurance statements or rental agreements.
If you use the same payments profile for both AdSense and Play Console accounts, you might need to go through a separate developer identity verification process. Learn more about verifying your developer identity information.

If we can't verify your identity

Sometimes we're unable to verify your identity from the documents you provide, for example, if your documents are blurry or unreadable. We'll let you know if this happens and invite you to resubmit.

To prevent abuse, we only allow a limited number of verification attempts. If you've reached your limit of attempts, use our Identity verification troubleshooter to find out what steps to take next. If your issue is still not resolved, contact us via this form.

Note: We can't remove the payment hold on your account until we've verified your identity.
