Earn rewards with referralsYou can get more rewards when you invite more friends to use Google Pay.
- Invite a new friend to Google Pay: When a friend signs up through your invite and makes their first payment, you both get a reward. You'll get ₹201 and your friend will get ₹21.
- Bring a friend back to Google Pay: Welcome a friend back to Google Pay. If your friend who hasn't used Google Pay in 180 days or more, returns through your invite and makes a payment, you both get a ₹21 reward.

To invite your friends:
Step 1: Share your invite link or code- Open the Google Pay app

- Under "Offers & rewards," tap Referrals.
- Choose Contacts.
- Tap Invite

- Open the Google Pay app
.
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Invite friends.
- To share the invite with your friends, select the platform you want.
Tip: Earn ₹201 when you invite new friends and ₹21 when you welcome friends back to Google Pay.
To earn referral reward, ask the friend you invited to tap the link or use the code that you sent.
To earn welcome back a friend reward, ask the friend you invited to tap the link that you sent.
Tip: You'll get a notification if your friend uses your referral code or link.- To earn the reward, your friend's first payment must be used to:
- Pay another person through Google Pay.
- Pay a bill with Google Pay.
- Pay on a website or app with their Google Pay details.
- Send money to someone's bank account through Google Pay.
- After your friend makes their first successful payment, both can get a reward.
- The reward can be added to your in-app rewards and sent to your linked bank account.
Tips:
- Rewards can take up to 7 business days to show up in your account.
- To check the status of your invites, go to the "Referral" page. You can also find referrals or any reward activity there.
Check why you didn't get a reward
- Check if your friend used your code or link: Make sure they use your invite when they join or come back.
- Check if your friend is eligible:
Welcome back offer: Your returning friend must have been inactive on Google Pay for the last 180 days.
New friend referrals: Your friend must be new to Google Pay and must not have accepted any previous referrals.
- Your friend must use a phone without a Google Pay sign in history.
- Your friend must not use a second hand device or a discontinued number that may have been used before with Google Pay.
- Your friend must use a new phone number, email, bank account, or form of payment for Google Pay.
- Your friend must use an Indian country code phone number which starts with +91.
- Check if your friend made an eligible payment: The first payment must be made within 28 days after they use the referral code or the link. The eligible payments are:
- Pay another person through Google Pay.
- Pay a bill with Google Pay.
- Pay on a website or app with their Google Pay details.
- Send money to someone's bank account through Google Pay.
- Check if you have exceeded the maximum number of rewards: You can only earn up to 100 referral rewards and 25 welcome back offer rewards and ₹9,000 in a financial year from April 1–March 31.
- Check if your phone number is eligible: Your phone number should start with the +91 country code.
- Check your linked bank account: Make sure you have a valid bank account connected to Google Pay so you can get your reward.
- Check if your place is eligible: This offer isn't available in Tamil Nadu as per the Tamil Nadu Prize Scheme Prohibition Act 1979 and to other places prohibited by law. Users within these states can't participate in this offer.
If you still don't have the reward:
- Wait for a few days since rewards can take up to 7 days to show up in your bank account.
- Check the status of the referral in the app.
- If it's been more than 7 business days and you still don't have the reward, contact Google Pay support.
Tip: You can receive a message in the app or from Google Pay that explains why you or your friend aren't eligible.
FAQs
Invite or bring back a friend rewardThis can happen for several reasons:
- If they've used Google Pay before on their phone, even if they uninstalled it
- If their phone number, email address, or bank account was already registered with Google Pay before.
- If they already used someone else's referral code or earned a referral reward in the past.
- If they downloaded the Google Pay app directly instead of using your special referral link.
- If they didn't make their very first payment within 28 days after setting up the app with the referral code.
- Using a refurbished phone or a phone number that was used by someone else for Google Pay before can also make them ineligible.
- You reached the maximum number of referrals.
- You reached the total limit of ₹9,000 for the year.
- Your phone number isn't an Indian country code that starts with +91.
- Send money to another Google Pay user on the Google Pay app.
- Pay a bill on the Google Pay app.
- Pay on a merchant site or app using a Google Pay UPI ID or UPI number.
- Pay an external bank account on the Google Pay app.
