Invite friends to Google Pay

You can share your referral code with the friend you want to refer to Google Pay after you verify eligibility.

  1. Open the Google Pay app .
  2. At the top right corner, tap your profile picture.
  3. To copy your code and share, tap Invite friends, get rewards.
    • To share via other platforms, tap the Share Share.

Or

  1. On your mobile device, open the Google Pay app .
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen.
  3. Tap Invite.
  4. To share the invitation with your friends, select the platform you want.
Use the referral link
  1. Tap on the referral link that was sent by your friend.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to download the Google Pay app.
    • The referral code will be applied automatically.
Use a referral code
  1. If the app isn't installed, download the Google Pay app.
  2. Open the Google Pay app .
  3. To go to your profile page, at the top right corner, tap the Profile icon .
  4. At the top right, tap Menu More and then Referral code.
  5. Enter the code.
    • If the code is valid, you'll get a success screen.

Tip: If you can’t find an option to enter a code, you’re not eligible for the referral program. However, you can still earn rewards when you share your unique referral codes.

Check why my friend is not eligible for referral rewards

This can happen for several reasons:

  • If they have used Google Pay before on their phone, even if they uninstalled it
  • If their phone number, email address, or bank account was already registered with Google Pay before.
  • If they already used someone else's referral code or earned a referral reward in the past.
  • If they downloaded the Google Pay app directly instead of using your special referral link.
  • If they didn't make their very first payment within 28 days after setting up the app with the referral code.
  • Using a refurbished phone or a phone number that was used by someone else for Google Pay before can also make them ineligible.

Tip: Make sure your friend is using an Indian mobile number that starts with +91.

How to earn ₹201 cashback

  • Invite your friend to Google Pay with your unique referral code.
  • When your friend makes their first payment within 28 days, they get an invite to join 4 bonus quests.
  • For your friend’s first payment, you’ll earn ₹101 cashback.

Bonus quests: For the next 4 weeks, you’ll earn an additional ₹25 cashback when your friend completes a qualifying payment each week.

Receive referral rewards

You can earn up to 100 referral rewards if you invite new users to Google Pay. Once the referred user makes their first payment within 28 days of sign up, both the referrer and referee will receive their reward.

To receive referral rewards, ensure that:

  • You’ve earned less than 100 referral rewards. You can earn up to 100 rewards and ₹9,000 in a financial year from April 1 to March 31.
  • You’ve sent the correct referral link or code.

Tip: Referees can earn only one referral reward for your first-time installation of Google Pay.

Referral rules
  • Refer a friend and earn ₹201 cashback reward after complete a series of eligible payments on Google Pay.
  • Eligible payments include:
    • Transaction to another Google Pay user on the Google Pay app
    • Bill payment on the Google Pay app
    • Merchant payment site or app with a Google Pay UPI ID or UPI number
    • External bank account transfer on the Google Pay app
  • To start, send an invite link with your unique referral code to friends.
  • When your friend makes the first successful payment within 28 days of joining Google Pay, both you and your friend will get cashback.
    • You’ll earn ₹101 cashback and your friend will earn ₹21 cashback.
  • When your friend completes their first transaction, they’ll receive your automated invite to 4 weekly bonus quests.
  • For the next 4 weeks, you’ll earn an additional ₹25 cashback when your friend completes an eligible payment each week.
    • For each successful eligible payment, your friend will earn ₹5 to ₹50 cashback.

Tip: You can remind your friend to complete their payment so you can both be rewarded.

Know why you didn't get a reward for your referral

If you didn’t receive a referral reward or can't find the money in your account, follow these steps:

Step 1: Check if you’re eligible for the reward

Make sure that:

  • You’ve earned less than 100 referral rewards. You can earn up to 100 rewards and ₹9,000 INR in a financial year.
  • You sent the correct referral link or code. Learn more about how to get rewards.

Step 2: Check if the person you referred is eligible for the reward

Make sure that the person you invited:

  • Signed up and downloaded the app through a referral link or referral code that you sent
  • Didn’t sign up through a referral link or code that someone else shared with them
  • Didn’t create a Google Pay account before
  • Didn’t use reconditioned second hand phone previously used by someone else on Google Pay
  • Didn’t use a recycled phone number previously used to onboard on Google Pay
  • First payment to be made within 28 days of app sign-up

Tip: For more information, on your app, refer to the terms and conditions of the referral offer.

Step 3: If the issue persists, have your friend contact support

  • They may need to provide a screenshot of the error they see.
Know why your friend isn't eligible for referral rewards

To qualify for each offer, a Google Pay customer can only use one set of Google Pay credentials that hasn’t been previously registered with Google Pay. This includes, but isn't limited to, the following:

  • Device
  • Google account
  • Phone number
  • Form of payment

Each customer can only avail of this offer once per unique registered invitee. The invitee can only avail of this offer for their first Google Pay transaction.

It’s possible that your friend has already been registered on Google Pay before, or may have signed up with someone else’s referral code.

Tip: Users with refurbished second hand phones and recycled phone numbers previously used with Google Pay are ineligible.

Know why your friend got the reward but you didn't

Check your bank account

Reward payments take a few days to appear. Wait a few days and check your bank statement. If you can't find your reward or haven’t received your reward money after 7 business days, contact us.

Tip: To receive your reward, make sure you have a valid bank account linked to your Google Pay account.
