Fix issues with discounted prices in your online shop

When you set up discounted prices in your online shop for automated discounts, prices optimised by automated discounts should show in your online shop's product landing pages and basket and during checkout for a minimum amount of time. After you start using automated discounts, if your online shop's setup changes, discounted prices may not show as required.


Common issues

You'll be notified in Merchant Centre if your online shop has any of the following issues:

  • Discounted prices stop showing in your online shop: For example, when a customer clicks on your Shopping ad, the product page's web address includes a JSON Web Token (JWT) for the discounted price. If the customer revisits that product page within 30 minutes without the JWT in the web address and the discounted price doesn't show, your online shop needs to be fixed so that the discounted price shows for at least 30 minutes.
  • Discounted prices don't show for the required amount of time: For example, if a customer clicks on your Shopping ad and the discounted price doesn't show on your product page for at least 30 minutes or in the customer's basket or the checkout process for at least 48 hours, your online shop needs to be fixed so that the discounted price shows for the minimum amount of time.
  • Discounted prices are applied to the wrong product: For example, if someone copies a JSON Web Token with a discounted price from one product, adds it to the web address for another product and your online shop accepts the discounted price for the wrong product, your online shop needs to be fixed so that it only accepts discounted prices for the intended products.
  • Discounted prices show after a discount expires: For example, if your online shop shows a product's discounted price after the expiry time specified in the JSON Web Token's exp field or someone is able to purchase a product after that expiry time, your online shop needs to be fixed so that the discounted price doesn't show after it expires.

Fix issues

  1. In your Merchant Centre account, find the notification about prices not showing as required, which will be in the Automated discounts tab or the Notifications tab, and select View fix.
  2. In the Fix issue dialogue, review the setup issues and follow the on-screen instructions to fix your online shop so that it meets all requirements, test your discounted prices with the provided test links and request another review of your online shop.
