About the automated consent tracker
This new feature allows CSSs to provide and manage the consent and communication preferences for your merchant accounts directly within the CSS Center. You can set your merchants’ consent under the "Actions" column.
Where to find it
The consent preferences are integrated directly into the Merchant details table within the Merchants section of your CSS Center account. You can set your merchants’ consent under the Actions column.
Understanding consent options
When managing consent, you will have three options to choose from:
- Consent: Grants Google teams permission to contact the merchant for additional Shopping-related services. The CSS will not be involved in these communications.
- Consent and subscribe: Grants Google teams permission to contact the merchant for additional Shopping-related services, and the CSS requests to be included on all communications. You will be prompted to provide an email address for this option.
- Decline: Indicates that Google teams should not contact the merchant for additional Shopping-related services.
How to manage your consent preferences
Follow these steps to update consent preferences for your merchant accounts:
- In your CSS Center account, navigate to the CSS domain for which you want to access.
- From the navigation bar on the left, select Merchants.
- Locate the Actions column in the Merchant details table.
Set preferences for individual merchants
- Click the three-dot menu
under the Actions column next to the specific merchant you need to update.
- Select Change consent preference option from the menu.
- Select your desired consent option from the dialog box.
- Select Apply to save your changes.
Perform bulk updates
- Select the checkboxes next to multiple merchants you need to update.
- A blue bar will appear above the table. Select the Change consent preference button.
- Choose your desired consent option from the dialog box.
- To apply this preference to all current and future merchants associated with your CSS, select the additional checkbox in the dialog.
- Select Apply to save your changes.
Understanding the consent preference process
You can update your preferences at any point in time. However, note that after a preference is saved, it takes about 24 hours for our systems to process and synchronise the changes. This brief processing window ensures system stability, prevents accidental edits, allows to properly route and align any active advanced technical services offered by Google service workflows across your merchant accounts. During this 24 hour period, the UI feature will be temporarily paused.
Multi-Client accounts (MCAs) and sub-accounts
- Inherited consent: If you set a consent preference for an MCA, all associated sub-accounts will automatically inherit this preference by default.
- Independent sub-account control: You can still modify the consent preference of individual sub-accounts independently, overriding the inherited preference from the MCA. This action is not restricted by any lock-in period applied at the MCA level.
Eligibility
-
Merchants for whom you select “Consent” or “Consent & Subscribe” will be eligible to receive additional services.
Visibility and customization
- Consent status visibility: The consent status for your merchants is visible directly within the CSS Center under the Consent preference column.
- Optional "Consent last update" column: You can customize your merchant details table to add a "Consent last update" column, which shows the timestamp of the last consent update.
- Select the Columns icon (usually a grid or three vertical bars) above the merchant table.
- Click on Modify column option.
- Select Consent last update to add it to your view.
