When you create an Interactive report, it saves as a draft until you click Publish.
Once published, the report can be shared or scheduled. If you change a published report, such as by adding different metrics, a new draft version is created. The new draft doesn’t impact the published version you shared or scheduled. Anyone you've shared the published report with won't see your draft changes until you publish them.
You can view the latest version history of a report, including the last draft version and the latest published version.
Note that to run a report via the external API, the report must be published in Ad Manager. When a report is run via the API, only the published version is run.
In sum, you can make exploratory changes in a draft report, and control which version you publish for sharing and scheduling.
