Create CSV files for your migration

Google Workspace Migration for Microsoft Exchange

To make sure source information is correctly mapped to your new Google Workspace account using Google Workspace Migration for Microsoft Exchange (GWMME), use comma-separated values (CSV) files.

About the CSV files

There are 2 types of files—whether you use one or both depends on what you want to migrate.

  • Control CSV file—Specifies the source users that get migrated and the new Google Workspace accounts their data is migrated to.
  • Mapping CSV file—Transfers identities (such as users or calendar resources) on your source account to your target account. It ensures metadata and usernames are correctly transferred.

If you're migrating calendar data and one of the following is true, then you must use a mapping CSV file:

  • A user's source email address differs from the target account address.
  • Users with differing email addresses are invitees in calendar events that you're migrating.

Format guidelines for files

  • Put each entry on a separate row
  • Don't include header rows
  • Delete any automatically added quotation marks
  • Don't add more than 1,000 users and calendar resources to a single file

If you plan to use multiple client machines, make a separate CSV file for each client. Each CSV file must contain a unique set of users and calendar resources.

Where do I find a calendar resource email address?

  1. Sign in with an administrator account to the Google Admin console.

If you aren’t using an administrator account, you can’t access the Admin console.

  2. Click Resources.
  3. Click a calendar resource name (for example, NYC-14-12-Boardroom-15) to view its details.

Under Resource email, you can find the calendar resource email address. Example:  solarmora.com_37r2903631@resource.calendar.google.com
