Join Fan Communities in YouTube Music

Interact with your favorite artists and their latest community updates directly in the YouTube Music mobile app. Fan Communities allow you to stay updated with an artist’s latest posts, photos, and interactive content while you listen to their music.

Find Fan Communities

You can find an artist's community on their Artist Page in the YouTube Music mobile app.

To enter a community:

Open the YouTube Music app on your mobile device.
Search for or tap an artist to go to their Artist Page.
Look for the Community card in the Spotlight carousel at the top of the page.
Tap the card to open the community feed.

Note: The Community card is designed to highlight timely updates. It may be temporarily replaced by other news, like a new album release.

Interact with posts

Once you're in a Fan Community, you can engage with the artist and other fans just like you do on the main YouTube app.

In the community feed, you can:

View and react: Read updates and see photos. You can like or dislike posts and comments.
Comment: Share your thoughts and join the conversation. Your comments are visible in both the YouTube Music and main YouTube apps.
Participate: Vote in polls and answer quizzes created by the artist.
Share: Send posts to friends using the Share button.
Filter content: Use the filter options at the top of the feed to see Artist posts only.

Watch videos in posts

If an artist shares a video in their community post, how it plays depends on the type of content:

Music videos: Official music videos play directly within the YouTube Music app.
Other videos: For non-music content like vlogs or Shorts, the YouTube Music app will open the main YouTube app to play the video for you.

Join the discussion on YouTube

While you can interact with existing posts in YouTube Music, you can’t create your own new posts within the app. If you want to start a new discussion, look for the banner inside the community feed that invites you to Join the discussion. Tapping this will take you to the artist’s channel in the main YouTube app where you can create a post.

Manage notifications

Notifications for new community posts are managed through the main YouTube app.

To get notified when an artist posts:

Go to the artist’s channel in the main YouTube app.
Tap the Bell icon to turn on notifications.

You'll receive these as standard push notifications from the main YouTube app.
