YouTube Music uses your recent top artists and songs to create a custom mix experience that’s featured on your channel page. Your mix updates daily for your enjoyment, or for others to discover.

To share your personal mix, make your personal mix public.

Create a custom mix experience

You can create custom mix experiences in YouTube Music using Music Tuner. Music Tuner lets you manage mix features, like artist variety and familiarity.

To use Music Tuner in YouTube Music,

Go to the Home screen and scroll down to Your music tuner.
Tap Add to get started.
Select artists to build your mix experience and click Next.
Customize your mix by selecting:
- Artist variety: How much variance you’d like between artists within your mix experience
- Music discovery: How familiar you are with artists added to your mix
- Filters: Additional features that may impact your mix, such as BPM, popularity, and mood
Tap Done to create your mix.

You can adjust the custom settings of your mix at time by tapping Tune on the mix page. To continue developing your station as you listen, tap Up Next from the player and tap a category to change the songs in your queue.

Generate a custom station with Ask Music

Use AI to turn an idea into a customized mix experience by describing what you want to hear. To get started,

Open YouTube Music and go to your Home tab .
Tap “Ask for music any way you like.”
Enter a prompt that describes a mood, activity, or listening experience.
Tap to listen to your custom mix experience.

You can start a new experience at any time by tapping .

How Ask Music works

Ask Music Conversational mix is a Generative AI listening experience that allows you to discover new music alongside songs from the artists you love. You can ask for music recommendations based on your mood, genre, activity, and favorite artists.

Whether you want music that makes you feel warm and fuzzy on a rainy day or an upbeat playlist for your cardio workout, Ask Music Conversational mix allows you to create a personalized experience just for you.

From the home screen :

Tap Ask for Music from your home screen .
Use voice or text to tell the app what you’d like to listen to.
- To access previous mixes, navigate to your library and select from the player page of the song that is part of one of your previous mixes.

From the search page:

Tap in the upper-right corner.
Use voice or text to tell the app what type of music you’d like to listen to such as “dance music” or “slow jams.”
- If your search query returns a customized mix as the top result, you may see the label “Mix created by AI.”
Tap Play within the top result and music will begin playing right away.

Note: Conversational mixes use a large language model (LLM), a machine learning technology, to interpret what you tell it you want to hear and to generate a title and short description for your customized mix.

Customized mixes appearing as top results on the search results page are pregenerated by our systems using an LLM to create the title, description and metadata of the mix. Your personal data is not used for this purpose.

Quality and accuracy may vary. We've incorporated safeguards into our AI tools, which aim to avoid the generation of inappropriate content. As such, we may block prompts or outputs that violate our policies, or those that touch on sensitive topics. We're constantly learning and we want to improve this feature, so submit feedback if you find an issue.

Access to Conversational mix

Conversational mix is also only available to Premium and Music Premium members on YouTube Music at this time.
