November 2025

YouTube Shorts
  • Featured places in Shorts update: We’re adding featured places to Shorts, which uses both creator-tagged and auto-tagged locations to highlight key places in the description of your Short. This will help your content get discovered by viewers searching for Shorts about a specific location. You can adjust or opt-out of auto tagged locations in Studio. Learn more.
Community and comments
  • Subscriber-only comments on videos: Creators can now limit comment posting on individual videos and Shorts to subscribers and paid channel members, previously available for live chat only. You can also set a minimum subscription time before a viewer can comment. This feature is designed to give creators more control over who can comment on their content. Learn more.
  • Comment reply suggestions launched globally: AI-enhanced comment reply suggestions are now available to all creators. This feature provides suggestions in the style and tone of the creator’s channel to help make it easier for you to respond to comments from your audience. Learn more.
YouTube Studio
  • Comment summary feature: We added a Comment summary feature in the Studio mobile app. This feature automatically summarizes topics from comments on your video, making it easy to get valuable feedback without going through comments one by one. Learn more.

October 2025

YouTube Shorts
  • Improved Shorts Editor Experience: You can now easily edit your individual video clips in context with other elements (audio, video, visual overlays) in your content. You can make precise adjustments and edits to the timing of each clip with zooming and snapping, rearrange or delete clips to create a rough cut, add music or timed text, and preview your Short to help you better tell the story you want to tell.

These are the first of more improvements planned to streamline in-app editing for Shorts. This change is now available on Android devices, and will gradually roll out to all creators in the coming weeks. Learn more.
Live streaming
  • Stream in both horizontal and vertical formats: We’re rolling out a setting that allows creators to go live in both horizontal and vertical formats at the same time. Turning on the setting creates a vertical crop of a horizontal live stream that shows up in the Shorts feed on the YouTube mobile app. This update will gradually roll out to all creators in the next few weeks, with more cropping options and third-party encoder compatibility for vertical layouts to come as future updates.
YouTube Studio
  • “Copyright” tab renamed to “Content detection”: Starting October 21, 2025, the “Copyright” tab in the left-hand menu on YouTube Studio will be renamed to “Content detection.” The Copyright Match Tool will remain in this tab alongside the new likeness detection tool for eligible users.

September 2025

Live streaming
  • Automatic highlights for mobile live streams: Creators will now see a Short video automatically pulled from their live stream when the stream ends, making it easy to upload stream highlights to your channel. Learn more about eligibility here.
YouTube Studio
  • New Collaborations feature: Invite up to five creators to be added as collaborators in your video. Each collaborator’s name and a subscribe button for each channel will be shown once the collaborator accepts your invitation. Learn more.
  • Studio mobile app update: The Studio mobile app versions 23.32 and below will not be supported starting 3 September 2025. Download the latest version from the Play Store or App Store to continue using the app.

July 2025

YouTube Studio
  • The Inspiration Tab has been launched globally: The Inspiration Tab is now available on the Content page in YouTube Studio on desktop in all global markets, including the United Kingdom, European Union, and Switzerland.
