How to sign in to YouTube on your TV
Find your way around the app on TV
Sign in or out of the YouTube app
You can sign in to the YouTube app on your smart TV, streaming device or game console. You can also sign out of the app or remove an account from the app.
Switch between accounts
In the YouTube app on your TV, you can sign in to multiple accounts and easily switch between these accounts.
Members of your household can add their own accounts and guests can sign in to a guest account. Guest accounts allow you to use YouTube on your TV while signed out and any content that you watch while signed out won't affect your signed-in account's recommendations.
To switch on or reset the parent code:
- Open the YouTube app on your smart TV.
- From the homepage, select Settings on the left.
- Select the Parent code tab.
- Follow the prompts to set up or reset your four-digit code.
When turned on, the parent code must be entered to:
- Watch YouTube as a signed-out viewer
- Access accounts for older members of your household (over 13 years old or the applicable age in your country)
- Remove accounts from the TV device
To remove the parent code:
- Open the YouTube app on your smart TV.
- From the homepage, select Settings on the left.
- Select the Parent code tab.
- Select Off and then enter your four-digit code.
Once you've removed the parent code, anyone who can access the smart TV can watch YouTube while signed out, access accounts for older members of the household and remove accounts from the TV device.

- You'll receive a notification on the YouTube app on your mobile phone, or you can go directly to the Notifications tab within the app.
Troubleshooting
I didn't get a notification after sending it to my phone:
- Confirm that you have the latest version of the YouTube app downloaded on your phone.
- Check that you are signed in with the same account on both your TV and phone.
- Enable notifications on your phone by going to Settings.
I got a notification but didn't ask for one:
- Check which TV devices you're logged in to here.
- Another member of your household or someone using a shared device could have sent the notification while you were logged in.
