Multi-channel network (MCN) operations manual

Transfer channels between content owners

These features are only available to partners who use YouTube Studio Content Manager.

MCNs can transfer channels between content owners. Before you start: Make sure that the content owner receiving the channel has the roll-up tool enabled.

  1. Log in to the content owner that will receive the transferred channel.
  2. In the top-right corner, select the account icon and then Creator Studio.
  3. In the left menu, select Channels.
  4. At the top of the page, click Invite.
  5. Enter the channel's username.
  6. Select Confirm.

The channel will be moved from the first content owner to the receiving content owner. The channel needs to accept an invitation in their Creator Studio dashboard to join the receiving content owner.

Channels may want to download or record revenue data before the transfer. Learn more about changes to reporting after transferring channel ownership.

Details for monetising channels

Removing your channel from an MCN

Channels that have previously signed YouTube Partner Programme terms should continue monetising automatically after release from the network. They can confirm their monetisation status in their account features page.

Switching MCNs

Channels moving from one MCN owned & operated content owner to another MCN owned & operated content owner will need to link to the new MCN content owner within 48 hours. If more than 48 hours have passed between the time that a channel unlinks from one MCN O&O to join another MCN O&O, the channel will need to go through the channel review process once again to regain access to monetisation features.

Channels that are part of the YouTube Partner Programme (YPP) can move between MCN affiliate content owners with no pause in monetisation.
