Learn about requesting removal

As long as you’re the subject of the content, you or a representative can start a request.

When you fill out the request form, you must provide URLs for the pages that include your personal information. Only those URLs are reviewed for removal from Search results. Learn how to find a URL.

Google can only remove content from search results pages. To request removal from the website that hosts the content, learn about contacting the website’s owner.

Tip: Anyone can report nude or sexual content that shows people under the age of 18.

Frequently asked questions

How does public interest factor into removal decisions?
If the submission meets policy requirements, Google will remove content by request. We make exceptions when the content is newsworthy or a matter of public interest.
What happens to the URL when it's removed from Search?

When a submission is evaluated, different factors are considered in determining an outcome, including whether other individuals are involved or if the content relates to a matter of public interest. When URLs are approved for removal, you’ll be notified by email as to which outcome to expect.

  • Full removal–The URL will no longer appear in Google search results.
  • Partial removal–The URL will no longer appear in Google search results for any search query that contains your name or identifier. It may still appear for other types of queries.

When content is removed from Google Search, it may still exist on the web. This means people may be able to find it via a shared link, social media post, or a different search engine, etc. Learn more about requesting removal from the source

How do I take a screenshot

You can take a screenshot on your desktop or mobile device. You may want to consider taking screenshots on the same device you use to submit the form. You can edit your screenshots so only your face is shown.

Important: Do not take or share screenshots containing child sexual abuse imagery or any content that presents someone under 18 years old in a sexual way. Child sexual abuse imagery is illegal and should NOT be shared in this form. Learn how to report child sexual abuse imagery.

How do I ask Google to refresh a search result when no longer reflects what's on the web page?
You can ask Google to refresh a search result when it shows old info even though the web page has been updated.
What is the difference between policy & legal removal requests

Google has globally applicable policies that allow you to remove private, sensitive, or sexual content about you. You can report personal content covered under Google’s policies.

If the content you’re concerned about isn't covered by these policies, specific local laws may apply in your country or region. To report content for a specific legal reason, you can create a request through the Legal Help Center.
