What is the recommended height of installation?
The recommended installation heights are:
- Optimal installation height: 4–5 meters
- Minimum installation height: 3 meters
- Maximum installation height: 6 meters

- The height should be consistent throughout the tunnel
- Installation height may change depending on specific tunnel attributes
How long does the battery last?
Beacons feature a battery life of 4 to 6 years and come with a 4 year warranty from HID. Note that low temperatures may affect battery life.
How do I replace or charge the battery once it's empty?
Beacons are not rechargeable, and the batteries can't be replaced. A malfunctioning or dead beacon must be entirely replaced with a new one.

How much do beacons cost?
You can purchase beacons directly from the manufacturer, HID, at a volume discount available to Waze Beacons partners. Costs range from $900 to $1,000 per kilometer ($1,500 to $2,400 per mile).
Note that Waze does not sell beacons or take any part in the transaction.

Once beacons are installed and live inside the tunnel, Waze drivers receive real-time location tracking and the ability to report incidents like crashes, traffic, and hazards.
