Help drivers find parking near your events

Updated: May 17, 2026

As a partner, you have Level 1 editing privileges in the Waze Map Editor (WME). This allows you to add places in your managed area, like parking lots, as a suggestion to the map. Your suggestion will be reviewed by the local map editors community, and added accordingly.

Note: Waze doesn't currently support navigation to on-street parking or restricted valet lots located away from drop-off points. Please don't add them as parking lots in the WME.

Add a parking lot in the Waze Map Editor

Note: For roadside pull-overs (lay-bys), create a parking lot road instead.

  1. Log in to the Waze Map Editor
  2. Click
  3. In the "Places" section, select Parking lots
  4. Click
  5. Click Place
  6. Scroll down and click Parking lot
  7. Click on the map to add points and create the shape of the parking lot. Double-click when you're done.
Note: Make sure the area is until the edge of the drivable tarmac.
  8. In the "Name" field, give it a name. Use the following format: "Parking - [Entity served]"
  9. Click Entry point
  10. Click the point of entry to the lot. Repeat this step if there are multiple entry points.
    • Set the point on the first segment of the car park, not the road outside
    • If the parking lot is underground, the entry/exit point should be where the entrance/exit road passed underground
    • Multiple entry points: Each entry point should be mapped with a navigation point. Give each point a simple and different name.
  11. If the parking lot is operated by the local authority or a car park operator, select the relevant operator in the "Parking operator" field
  12. Click the More info tab
  13. In the "Parking lot type" field, select the parking lot type:
    • Public: Most city-managed car parks are public
    • Restricted: Marked as "for customer use only"
    • Private: Marked as "staff/residents only". Often have barriers or gates across the access.
Tip: Fill in as many fields with as much information as you can.
  14. Click Send for review
Note:  In some locations, parking lots can be added without review. You'll see Save instead.

A volunteer map editor will review your suggestion and update the map accordingly.
