Waze lets you know as you near cameras on your route. Camera alerts are turned on by default, but you can customize which alerts you get.
Cameras are added to the map based on reports from our partners and map editors. If a camera wasn't reported by an editor or partner, Waze may not know about it.
Using Waze in your car? Manage alerts on your phone. The changes will apply when you use Waze in your car. If you're using Android Auto or CarPlay, make sure to disconnect your phone first.
Turn off camera alerts
- Open Waze
- Tap
- Tap Settings
- Tap Alerts and reports
- Tap Reports. A list of all report types appears.
- Tap Cameras
- Tap the alert type you want to turn off
- Turn off:
- Show on map - When turned on, you'll see alerts on the map
- Alert while driving - When turned on, you'll get a voice alert and an alert will pop up on your screen

What types of cameras will I get an alert for?

| Speed camera | Records a vehicle's speed as it drives past a specific point | |
| Red light camera | Takes pictures of vehicles that drive through a red light. Some cameras also record speeding. | |

| Stop sign camera | Takes pictures of vehicles that don't stop at a stop sign | |
| Mobile police camera | Records a vehicle's speed as it drives past a police unit | |
| HOV lane camera | Takes pictures of vehicles driving in high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes without the minimum number of passengers | |
| Carpool lane camera | Takes pictures of vehicles driving in carpool lanes without the minimum number of passengers | |
| Bus lane camera | Takes pictures of vehicles that aren't allowed to drive in bus lanes | |
| Mobile phone camera | Takes pictures of drivers who use mobile phones while driving | |
| Noise camera | Takes pictures of vehicles that exceed noise level limits | |
| Safe distance camera | Takes pictures of vehicles that drive too close to the vehicle in front | |
| Seat belt camera | Takes pictures of drivers and passengers not wearing seat belts |
Why didn't I hear an alert when I passed a speed camera?
If you didn't hear a speed camera alert, you were likely driving at or under the speed limit. In this case, you'll only see an alert on the map.
