Your current Google tag installation might include in-code customizations, like privacy settings and feature settings, that aren’t supported directly by the Google & YouTube app due to platform restrictions. You can choose to add your Google tags to the Google & YouTube app, but unsupported settings won’t be automatically replicated. Review the list of unsupported features below to determine the updates you need to make. Some of these settings may be possible to configure via the in-product settings.
Unsupported features include:
- Google Tag Manager
- Server-side Google Tag Manager
- Custom parameter-based features, such as:
- Modifying cookie settings in code
The Google & YouTube app might not be able to match your current privacy and consent setups. It is your responsibility to ensure your tagging meets your specific privacy and consent requirements. Learn more about migrating your tags to the Google & YouTube app.

Restricted data processing
For Google tags deployed via the Google & YouTube app, the restricted_data_processing (RDP) field will be set based on Shopify’s Customer Privacy API (consent.saleOfDataAllowed). If you currently have a custom implementation of RDP that does not use Shopify’s Customer Privacy API, your setting may not be automatically replicated when you move your tag to the Google & YouTube app. You should be able to match your current behavior by using Shopify’s Customer Privacy API.
