Prepare your device for trade-in
To ship your trade-in device, use the prepaid trade-in kit you received and follow the included instructions.
Important: To receive a trade-in refund, you need to remove any device security like passwords, patterns, PINs, and fingerprint locks. Then, factory reset the device. Devices that aren’t unlocked and factory reset will be returned.
Step 1: Transfer data from your old device

Step 3: Factory reset your device
Important: After a factory reset is complete, your device won't require a password. If you need to enter a password, the factory reset is incomplete and you need to try again.
Pixel phone and tabletTo reset your Pixel phone:

Erase all data (factory reset).
- If your phone asks for your PIN:
- Enter your PIN.
- Tap Erase all data.

Step 1: Back up your Pixel Watch data
Back up your existing Watch
Before you make any changes, we recommend backing up your existing Pixel Watch so that settings and other data are saved.
Important: Backup can take up to a few days to complete so be sure to back up your Watch a few days before you begin the transfer process.

Make sure your Watch is connected to Wi-Fi and place your Watch on its charger.

On your phone, open the Google Pixel Watch app

Tap Google
Backup
Turn on.
Step 2: Use the Watch‘s Settings menu to delete your data and eSIM from the Watch

Fully charge and power on your Google Pixel Watch.

On Google Pixel Watch, swipe down
tap Settings
.

Tap System.

Scroll down and tap Disconnect & reset
Erase eSIM
Confirm
.
Tip: Once you reset your watch to factory settings, all apps, settings, and data are erased. Make sure to back up all your data before you proceed.
Step 3: Connect and restore your backed up data to a new Watch
Connect a new Watch to your phone

On your phone, open the Google Pixel Watch app

If you've had a previously paired Watch, scroll up and tap the two watches icon called Show my devices
Add watch.

Select the backup you want to restore when you set up your Google Pixel Watch.

If you have a passcode on your old Pixel Watch, enter it on your new Watch.

Keep your new Watch on its charger and tap Ok. Your new Watch will automatically restore the apps, data, settings, watch face, and tiles that were set on your old Watch.

Step 4: Package your device
Important: Any accessory shipped to our trade-in centers will be disposed of and can’t be returned.
- Erase any downloaded SIMs.
- Power off your device.
- Remove the SIM card from the SIM tray.
- Leave the SIM tray in the device.
- Remove any accessories from your device, such as:
- Phone case
- Watch band
- Screen protector
- Charger
- Place the device in the provided box.
- Seal the box.
- Attach the prepaid shipping label.
- If you have multiple trade-in kits, match the Trade-in ID on your kit with the Trade-in ID in your Order History. To find your Trade-in ID:
- Go to your Order History.
- Select View or Edit order.

Step 5: Ship the device through UPS
To ship your device, you can find UPS drop off locations near you.
Important:
- If you don’t want to continue with your trade-in, discard the trade-in kit.
- After you ship your device, you can’t cancel the trade-in process.
- Do not send in devices with damaged or swollen batteries. You won’t receive credit for these devices, and Google can no longer return them.
- Your trade-in transaction expires 6 months from your new Google device purchase date.
