Fix “no audience segment to target” alert in Search Ads 360

Search Ads 360’s Retail Media Network solution helps retailers securely share customer insights with brands to improve ad targeting and efficiency.

In some cases, you might encounter an alert that implies that there’s no audience segment to target in your running campaign. This usually means you no longer have access to a retailer's audience. This article explains the reasons behind this and provides steps to resolve the issue.

Identify why you lost access

This happens when a retailer changes the audience groups they've shared with your brand's Search Ads 360 associate manager account. Examples include:

  • The retailer removed the audience from the shared audience group: The retailer restructured their shared audience groups. They may have removed the specific audience from the group linked to your associate manager account.
  • The entire audience group was removed: The retailer stopped sharing the entire group of audiences. This could be due to strategic changes or updates to their data-sharing policies.
  • The audience actively used was removed from sharing: When an audience in use is removed from sharing, Search Ads 360 will automatically pause the associated campaign to safeguard the retailer's data. A notification will be sent to inform you of this action.

Review the impact when you lose access to shared audiences

  • Alert: Search Ads 360 will display an alert that there’s no audience to target.
  • Impact to campaigns
    • Shopping campaigns: Campaigns targeting a single and inaccessible audience will pause.
    • Performance Max campaigns: Campaigns utilizing audience signals and diverse targeting could experience performance impacts if retailer audiences are removed, though the campaigns may not necessarily pause.
  • Reporting: Historical performance data remains available for campaigns that previously utilized the now-inaccessible audience.

Regain access to an audience

  1. Contact the retailer: Reach out to the retailer to understand why they revoked audience access. They can provide guidance on replacements or alternative audience options.
  2. Discuss audience needs: Communicate your campaign goals and targeting requirements. This helps them determine suitable audience alternatives or adjust their sharing settings.
  3. Review alternative audiences: Work with the retailer to explore other available audiences in Search Ads 360. They might have similar audiences or new options that are a better fit.
  4. Update your campaigns as needed: Once you've identified suitable audience replacements, update your Search Ads 360 campaigns. You can do this by adding new audiences or adjusting targeting settings. You may also need to reactivate paused campaigns.

Important: Retailer changes to audience sharing may take up to an hour to reflect in your Search Ads 360 account.
