Use cases for Shared Storage

The Shared Storage API addresses two core use cases:

Cross-site aggregated measurement Measure campaign performance across websites while safeguarding user privacy. Track impressions, reach, and frequency with the Private Aggregation API, gaining valuable insights without compromising personal data.

An advertiser running a campaign for a new electric vehicle can use Shared Storage to track how many unique users saw their ads across various automotive websites. In turn, they can calculate the average number of times each user was exposed to the campaign, all without accessing any personal user data.

Cross-site content selection Deliver relevant ad experiences that respect user preferences. Implement frequency capping, tailor ad creatives based on past interactions, and optimize campaigns through A/B testing, all while prioritizing user privacy. A travel website can use the data stored in Shared Storage to show a user ads for beach destinations if the user previously interacted with similar ads, or they can limit the number of times that user sees an ad for a specific beach hotel, which optimizes ad spend and helps prevent ad fatigue.
