You can get info about how you spend time on your device, like how often you unlock it and how long you use each app. You can set app timers and schedule display changes to improve your digital wellbeing.
Important:
- Some of these steps work only on Android 10 and up. Learn how to check your Android version.
- Some of these steps require you to touch the screen.
Set up Digital Wellbeing
To find Digital Wellbeing as an app, open your Settings app and tap Digital Wellbeing & parental controls, then turn on Show icon in the app list.
The first time you open Digital Wellbeing, you need to set up your profile.

Set up App limits PIN
To set app limits on a device that only you can change, you can set a PIN.
Important: Once you set up an App limits PIN, do not share it with others.
- On the device where you'd like to set App limits, open the Settings app.
- Tap Digital Wellbeing & parental controls

- Turn on PIN for app time limits.
- To set PIN for app time limits, unlock the device.
- To unlock the device, enter the device PIN, password, or pattern.
- Enter a unique 4-digit PIN to be used for app time limits.
- Confirm PIN for app time limits.
- To remove the PIN, turn off PIN for app time limits.
- Tap Confirm.
Manage your time in apps
Find out how much time you spend in apps- Open your device's Settings app.
- Tap Digital Wellbeing & parental controls.
- The chart shows your device use today. For more info, tap the chart. For example:
- Screen time: What apps you've had on screen and for how long
- Times opened: How often you've unlocked your device and opened certain apps
- Notifications received: How many notifications you've gotten and from which apps
- To get more info or change app settings, tap a listed app.
Important: Some work and school accounts might not work with app timers.
- Open your device's Settings app.
- Tap Digital Wellbeing & parental controls
App timers.
- Next to the app you want to limit, tap Set timer

- Choose how much time you can spend in that app.
- Tap OK.
Tips:
- When you run out of time, the app closes and its icon dims.
- Keep in mind:
- App timers reset at midnight.
- To use the app again before midnight, follow steps 1–4 above and delete the app timer.
Manage your time on Google Chrome
Find out how much time you spend on websites- Open your device's Settings app.
- Tap Digital Wellbeing & parental controls.
- Tap the chart

- If you don’t find it right away, tap Show all apps.
- Tap Show sites
Show. You’ll find the websites you visited and how much time you used them each day.
- To get more info about the time you’ve spent on a site, tap it.
Hide past site visits
To stop showing past visits to a website, tap the site on the list. Tap Remove past visits Remove. If you go to the site in the future, it will show on the list again.
- Open your device's Settings app.
- Tap Digital Wellbeing & parental controls.
- Tap the chart

- If you don’t find it right away, tap Show all apps.
- Next to the website you want to limit, tap Set site timer

- Choose a time limit.
- Tap OK.

Check your data from your phone’s Clock
- Open your phone’s Clock app

- Tap Bedtime
.
- If this is your first time using the Bedtime mode feature, under "Show cough and snore activity," tap Continue
Allow.
- If this is your first time using the Bedtime mode feature, under "Show cough and snore activity," tap Continue
Tip: When you tap Bedtime , you can switch between Bedtime activity and Cough and snore.
Check your data from Digital Wellbeing
- On your phone, tap the Settings app.
- Tap Digital Wellbeing and parental controls.
- Under “Show cough & snore activity," tap Continue.
Tip: The next time you open your Digital Wellbeing app, you can find your cough & snore data under “Bedtime mode.”
Search for your data
- On your phone, tap the Settings app.
- At the top, tap Search

- Enter “cough.”
- To open the Digital Wellbeing app, tap Cough & snore.
- Open your device's Settings app.
- Tap Digital Wellbeing & parental controls
Bedtime mode
Bedtime routine.
- Choose when Bedtime mode will turn on.
- Choose how you want to create the bedtime routine:
- Use a schedule: Set the start and end times of your sleep and your preferred days of the week.
- Turn on while charging: Set "After" and "Before" times, and charge your device during that time frame.
- Open your device's Settings app.
- Tap Digital Wellbeing & parental controls
Focus mode.
- Choose which apps you want to pause. When Focus mode is on, you can't use these apps and won't get notifications from them.
- Use Focus mode when you want to avoid distractions.
- To turn Focus mode on or off, tap Turn on now or Turn off now.
- To have Focus mode turn on automatically, tap Set a schedule.
- To temporarily unpause apps when Focus mode is on, tap Take a break and choose a time limit.
- Open your device's Settings app.
- Tap Digital Wellbeing & parental controls
Heads Up.
- To set up Heads Up, follow the on-screen instructions.
- Turn Use Heads Up on or off.
