There are several features on your Pixel phone that can help you manage conversations and reduce interruptions from notifications.
Use bubbles for conversations
You can make some of your conversations appear as floating bubbles on top of other apps. This feature makes it easier to reply to important messages while you stay on your current screen.
- Open your phone's Settings app

- Tap Notifications
Bubbles.
- Turn on Allow apps to show bubbles.
When you receive a notification from a messaging app, tap the small icon on the notification to turn it into a bubble.
Snooze a notification for later
You can snooze a notification if you want to deal with it later.
To turn this feature on or off:
- Open your phone's Settings app

- Tap Notifications.
- Turn Allow notification snoozing on or off.
To snooze a notification for a set amount of time:
- When you get a notification, slowly swipe it left or right.
- Tap Snooze.
Manage your conversations
You can mark certain conversations as a priority. Priority conversations appear at the top of your notification list. They also show up even when “Do Not Disturb” is on.
- Open your phone's Settings app

- Tap Notifications
Conversations.
- From here, you can find recent conversations and mark any as a priority.
Reduce repeated notifications
Important: This feature is only available on Android 14 and later.
To help you focus, your phone can automatically lower the volume of repeated notifications from the same app.
- Open your phone's Settings app
.
- Tap Notifications.
- Turn Notification cooldown on or off.
Turn notification dots on or off
A dot on an app's icon means you have a notification from that app that you haven't opened yet.
- Open your phone's Settings app
.
- Tap Notifications.
- Turn Notification dot on app icon on or off.
Change your settings for Flash notifications
- Open your phone's Settings app
.
- Tap Notifications
Flash notifications.
- You can make the camera light or your screen flash when you get a notification.
Tip: If your phone doesn’t make a sound or vibrate for notifications, make sure it isn’t in “Do Not Disturb mode.” Learn how to change Do Not Disturb settings.
