Voice Translate translates your voice into the selected language and mimics your natural voice and tone in real time. You can use it for situations like making restaurant reservations while traveling abroad or communicating with business partners.
Important: This feature is only available on Pixel 10 and later, including Pixel Fold. You can translate between English and the following languages:
- French
- German
- Hindi
- Indonesian
- Italian
- Japanese
- Portuguese
- Russian
- Spanish
- Swedish
Learn about Voice Translate
This feature:
- Allows you to have a real time conversation with someone who speaks a different language.
- Helps the speaker feel connected by hearing a voice in their likeness.
- Works without internet connection and protects your privacy.
Protects your privacy and ensures you’re always in control of your data:
- No conversation audio or transcription is stored on the device.
- Conversations aren’t sent to Google servers or anywhere else, or retrievable after the call.
Is off by default, but you can:
- Activate it for future calls.
- Turn it off for all calls at any time.
- Turn it off during a particular call.
Turn on Voice Translate
Important: As you follow the steps, you may need to download models for the feature to work.
- Make sure all your apps are up to date. Learn how to update your apps.
- Open the Phone app.
- At the top right, tap More
Settings
Voice translate.
- Turn on Use voice translate.
- In the drop down menu, select the language you speak.
- (Optional) To download them, tap on any additional languages you'd like to use.
How to use Voice Translate
- Start a call.
- Tap Call Assist.
- To turn on live translation, tap Voice translate.
- Select the language the other party uses.
Tip: You can select your language and the speaker’s language. - Tap Done.
- Both you and the other party will each hear a brief announcement in your own language. Once it's complete, feel free to begin talking.
