Save & share recordings & transcripts

You can save and share your recordings and transcripts across different Google Accounts, with different audiences, and in different file formats.

Share recordings

Your recordings are only available on your Pixel phone or Pixel Tablet and not synced to your Google Account unless you choose to:

• Turn on backup.
• Share the recordings.
• Copy the recordings to another app.
• Save them elsewhere, like in Google Drive.
• To help improve Recorder, share a recording or transcript with Google.

Tip: If you turn on permissions, other apps can use your recordings. Learn how to change app permissions.

Share a recording link with a different audience

Important: By default, backed up recordings and links are private to your Google Account. If you share them publicly, anyone with the link can access them.

Share a recording link through the Recorder app:

1. On your device, open the Recorder app .
2. Touch and hold a recording.
3. Tap Share Link.
4. Select the audience you want to share the link with:
   • Public link
   • Share with specific people
   • Private link

Tips:

• You can only share a recording with email addresses associated with a Google Account.
• When you share a recording with someone, they get an email notification.

Share a recording link through recorder.google.com

Important: Backed up recordings and links are private by default. If you share them publicly, anyone with the link can view and play them.

Share a recording link through recorder.google.com:

1. Go to recorder.google.com.
2. Sign in to your Google Account.
3. Tap the recording you want to share.
4. Tap Share .
5. Select the audience you want to share a link to this file with:
   • Public link
   • Share with specific people
   • Private link

Tips:

• You can type a contact's name in the search space.
• You can only share a recording with email addresses associated with a Google Account.
• When you share a recording with specific people, they get an email notification.

Share a recording file with another app or share it as a text file

1. On your device, open the Recorder app .
2. Touch and hold a recording.
3. Tap Share File.
4. Select an option:
   • Audio
   • Transcript
5. Select the app you want to share the file with.
   • Example: Share to NotebookLM mobile app

Share or save a transcript to Google Docs

1. On your device, open the Recorder app .
2. Tap a recording you want to share.
3. Tap More Share.
4.  Tap Share Share transcript to Google Docs.
5. Select the Google Account you want to copy a transcription to.

Tip: To adjust your share settings, tap Share Change.

Share or save a transcript from Recorder to NotebookLM

1. On your device, open the Recorder app .
2. Tap a recording you want to share.
3. Tap More Share.
4. Tap Share Share transcript to NotebookLM.
5. Select the Notebook you want to copy a transcription to.

Share or save a transcript as a text file

1. On your device, open the Recorder app .
2. Touch and hold a recording.
3. Tap Share Transcript (.txt).

Share a recording or transcript with Google to help improve Google Products & Recorder

To help improve Recorder, you can share high quality recordings and transcripts. When you share a recording, it doesn’t affect how Google processes and transcribes your audio in real time. The recordings you donate and share with Google are stored on Google servers for one and a half years. All data is processed in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy.

1. On your device, open the Recorder app .
2. Tap a recording you want to share.
3. Tap More Help us improve Google products.

To enhance feature performance without the need to compromise privacy, Recorder improves over time with privacy-preserving technologies like Federated Analytics and Learning. Recorder learns from trends like aggregate topics and model improvements across many devices without your data being accessible to anyone, including Google. Only fully anonymized insights or models are accessible to improve Recorder features.

Create & share a video clip of your recording

From the recording, you can create a video clip up to 5 minutes long.

1. On your device, open the Recorder app .
2. Tap a recording you want to share.
3. Tap More Create video clip.
   1. To customize a video clip, tap:
      • Content Transcript & waveform or Waveform.
      • Layout Square, Portrait, or Landscape.
      • Theme Dark theme or Light theme.
4. When you're finished, tap Create.
5. To save the video clip, tap Save to device.
6. To share the video clip:
   1. Tap Share.
   2. Select the app you want to share with.
7. If you don't want to save or share, tap Done.
