Summary of programme
Google has determined that certain Pixel 7a phones may experience unexpected battery swelling. To ensure that our customers have the best possible experience with Google products, some Pixel 7a devices ('Impacted Devices') may be eligible for a battery replacement repair at no charge or another form of appeasement option from Google (options are limited by country and warranty status). Eligibility and specific options are subject to Terms and Conditions.
Not all Pixel 7a devices are impacted by unexpected battery swelling. Therefore, if your device is not impacted, you will not be eligible for a repair or other options under this programme.

Symptoms of battery swelling in Pixel 7a devices
Users affected by this issue may experience the following:
- Visible swelling of the device. The phone may appear thicker than usual, or the back cover might be bulging.
- Phone cover bulging or separating from the device. This is noticeable by gaps or openings along the edges of the phone.
- The phone's battery is draining significantly faster than usual, even with minimal use, or fails to charge.
Battery replacement at no charge for individual end-user owners of Impacted Devices
Important:
- If your Pixel 7a device exhibits other forms of damage, like liquid damage, exposure to sharp objects or excessive force, it may not qualify for a battery replacement at no charge under this programme.
- If your phone has out-of-warranty damage, such as display or cover glass cracks, then there may be a fee to repair your phone. Before we start any repairs, we'll provide a cost estimate. You then have the option to proceed with the repair or have your device returned to you.
Eligible and Impacted Pixel 7a devices can receive one battery replacement at no charge through our battery replacement programme. This involves an initial eligibility check and physical inspection. Check your eligibility by visiting our registration page.
Even if an Impacted Device is eligible for a battery replacement at no charge, upon receipt, a physical inspection of your phone is conducted before starting the repair to verify that the phone is in suitable condition for repair.
Battery replacement doesn't extend the standard warranty coverage of your Pixel 7a. Your warranty will expire on the date that it was originally set to expire, regardless of the battery replacement.
Battery replacement is only available in eligible locations and while battery supplies last. Battery replacement is available at walk-in repair centres in the following locations:
- United States (mail-in repair option available)
- India (mail-in repair option available)
- Canada
- United Kingdom
- Germany
- Japan
- Singapore
If the mail-in replacement option is not available in your location and visiting a walk-in centre to get your battery replacement is not your preferred choice or not available in your location, you can visit our registration page to claim one of the other appeasement options listed below (options are limited by country and warranty status).
Appeasement options
Carefully select your appeasement option as after you choose, you can't change it.
Out-of-warranty appeasement options (not available in India and the United States where both mail-in and walk-in repairs are available):
- $200 USD (converted to your local currency) payment.
- $300 USD (converted to your local currency) Google hardware discount code applicable towards the purchase of another Pixel phone on the Google Store (as available).
Under warranty appeasement options (not available in India and the United States where both mail-in and walk-in repairs are available):
- $456 USD (converted to your local currency) payment.
Terms and Conditions
Important:
- Only some Pixel 7a devices are impacted by unexpected battery swelling and eligible for repair or other options. You can check your eligibility on our registration page.
- Eligibility is limited to consumers who purchased their devices in Australia, Canada, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, the United States of America (incl. Island territories and Puerto Rico), the United Kingdom, Switzerland and EEA countries.
- If your country is not listed, the extended repair programme for Pixel 7a is not available. Please visit the Pixel Help Centre for assistance with other Pixel-related issues.
Repair or other options are available exclusively for individual end-user consumers of Impacted Devices only (retailers, wholesalers or owners of bulk devices other than for personal use are not eligible) that were purchased by or on behalf of that individual consumer.
Certain appeasement options may only be available to individuals who have reached the age of majority in their country or state of residence. You may be required to confirm that you are 18 years of age or older to redeem these specific options.
Available options are subject to regional limitations and may vary based on your location. You may select one option per device after eligibility is confirmed. Proof of ownership may be required when claiming your repair or other options. Repair options may not be available in all countries, as required by law. Battery repair is only available while battery supplies last. Certain devices where Google has previously provided a battery replacement at no charge may not be impacted and are not eligible for these appeasement options.
Payment amounts may vary based on the daily exchange rate, at the time of conversion. The final amount will be calculated using the exchange rate in effect at the time that you select your option. Local currency availability for cash payments may vary. In cases where your local currency is unavailable, transactions may be processed and displayed in an alternative currency such as USD, GBP or EUR. Payments may be processed by third-party service providers; their respective terms and privacy policies apply.
Google Store hardware discount codes are valid for one year after the code has been issued. Discount code is valid only for purchases of Pixel phones and cannot be used to purchase other products. Google Store hardware discount can be combined with other promotional codes or offers. Product selection and availability are subject to change. Making a claim under this programme may fully satisfy warranty terms. This extended repair programme for Pixel 7a provides additional benefits beyond the rights available to you under statutory law in the country where you purchased the device. You may have statutory rights available to you under the laws of the country where you purchased the device. If available to you, you may alternatively make a claim pursuant to those rights. Choosing to participate in this programme does not prevent you from also pursuing available statutory rights but doing so may reduce the value of any remedies you may have available to you.

If your device is working normally and does not show symptoms of battery swelling, you do not need to stop using it. Not all Pixel 7a devices are impacted by unexpected battery swelling.
To find out if your device is affected, visit our registration page. Among those affected, not every device will show symptoms related to battery swelling, as they may only develop over time.
If your Pixel 7a is affected, we recommend a battery replacement, if available. As always, if your device exhibits symptoms or has other damage such as damaged enclosure, a cracked screen or some other form of physical damage, we recommend that you stop using the device.

As always, if your device exhibits symptoms or has other damage such as damaged enclosure, a cracked screen or some other form of physical damage, we recommend that you stop using the device.
