Learn what information is shared with Google
If you turn on “Usage & diagnostics,” your Pixel device sends information about your device’s performance and usage patterns to Google. This info is associated with your device's unique identifier, such as serial number. For example, your device can send information such as:
- Battery and thermal performance
- Sensor performance
- Component related performance (such as speakers, camera, display, storage, and others)
- Software stability
- How often you use your apps
- Quality and length of your network connections (such as mobile, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth)
Connect Usage & diagnostics to Google Account
Important: This feature is available on Pixel 6 and later devices, including Pixel Tablet, that run on Android 15 and later. This feature is also available on Pixel watches using the Pixel watch Android companion app version 4.1 and up.
If you turn on "Usage & diagnostics," Google can connect that info with the device’s associated Google account. This data helps to improve the Pixel product portfolio and the Android ecosystem. For example, Google may use your account information to further improve how Google devices perform together.
Turn Usage & diagnostics on or off for your phone or tablet
Important: If you turn off “Usage & diagnostics,” it won’t affect information that apps might collect. Your device can still get essential services, like a new version of Android.
To choose whether to send usage and diagnostics information to Google:

For example, Google can use this information to improve:
- Battery life: Google can use information about what uses the most battery on your device to help make common features use less battery and to improve how batteries age.
