Connected Devices Issues

Hi Everyone,

We’ve seen a few posts about issues with not seeing or seeing multiple entries for a Pixel 2 or Pixel 3 under “Connected Devices.”

We’ve received a lot of feedback about this issue and our engineers are working hard to implement a permanent fix that will go live with upcoming releases. Please continue to file feedback reports via alt+shift+i and include “Connected Devices” in the report.

In the meantime, here are a few steps you can take to help alleviate the issue:

  1. Ensure you have a good internet connection on both devices.
  2. Enter *#*#2884936#*#* into the dialer app on your Pixel 2 or Pixel 3. This forces a backend sync. You’ll know this worked if you see a message similar to: “Forcing CryptAuth enrollment.”
  3. On your Pixelbook, open Chrome and go to chrome://proximity-auth and select “Enroll” then “Sync.”
  4. Now your Pixel 2 or Pixel 3 should appear correctly in your “Connected Devices” list.

Please note that you don’t need to manually pair your Pixel phone with your Pixelbook to access messages on your desktop, use Smart Lock or use Instant Tethering. You just need to be logged into the same account ensure bluetooth is enabled on both devices.

We’ll keep you updated!

Thanks,

Chelsea
