Users can either create or receive UPI vouchers, depending on their role in the transaction.
UPI Voucher creators
- You can create a UPI Voucher on third-party apps like Google Pay.
- UPI Voucher creators should have a valid and active UPI form of payment available on Google Pay.
- UPI Voucher creators can allow redemption of vouchers to either:
- All merchants that accept UPI payments.
- Select specific merchant categories, such as restaurants, entertainment, electronics, and travel.
UPI Voucher recipients
- When a UPI Voucher is created, the recipients will receive SMS notifications on their registered mobile number.
- You can activate every new voucher you receive on Google Pay.
- A voucher is activated through an OTP verification followed by setting up a unique UPI PIN for that voucher.
- Once activated, all transactions made afterwards need to be authenticated by the voucher PIN only.
- If UPI PIN is already set up in another third-party app other than Google Pay, UPI PIN set up is skipped and you may use the same UPI PIN from the other app to authorize your voucher redemption transactions.
Tip: If you receive multiple vouchers, try to set up the same UPI PIN for ease of use.
- To check a specific voucher’s remaining balance, you need to enter the correct UPI PIN you set up for that voucher.
