Fix a problem
I get a 'Call bank' option instead of a SMS or email OTP verificationYour mobile number or email address isn't available with the card-issuing bank. To register your details, contact your bank.
If you change, format or reset your phone, add all your cards again. To protect payment information and reduce security risks, Google Pay uses tokenisation to save your card. This process replaces sensitive information, such as a card number, expiry date and CVV, with a device-specific token. The token acts as a substitute value used to process payments. Since card tokens are device-specific, you must tokenise your cards again on your new device.
Ensure that you add a valid card. If it's still unsuccessful, it could be due to one of these reasons:
- Your card isn't supported on Google Pay.
- You entered incorrect card information.
- Technical issues occurred.
- Try again after 2–4 hours.
If you continue to encounter issues, contact your bank.
This could occur due to either of the two reasons listed below:
- Your card isn't supported for the payment type that you want to make.
- Cards aren't supported for peer payments, such as payments to friends or family. You can use UPI on Google Pay instead.
