New suppliers on Orion Wi-Fi may find that their networks are not receiving traffic from any buyers, or traffic may be low. There are several reasons why this might happen:
Price
If the price of your Network is above a Buyer’s maximum willingness to pay, then the Buyer will reject the connection to your Network.
To see if your Networks are being rejected due to price, go to your Orion Wi-Fi Supplier portal → Network Stats, and review the “Acceptance (Price)” column.
If you are seeing rejections based on price, you may want to consider lowering your price.
If you are unsure of how to set your price, you may want to consider setting individual prices for individual Networks to assess Buyers’ Acceptance rates at different prices.
- Go to your Orion Wi-Fi Supplier portal → Manage Networks
- For each Network that you want to change the price of, click ⋮ → Edit → enter a new Price per GB
- After a Network is set at a price for some time, go to your Orion Wi-Fi Supplier portal → Network Stats, and review the “Acceptance (Price)” column.
Throughput
Orion Wi-Fi measures the historical throughput of each Network. Buyers on Orion Wi-Fi can set a minimum throughput required for them to connect to any Network. If the throughput of your Network is below a Buyer’s minimum throughput, then the Buyer will reject the connection to your Network.
To see if your Networks are being rejected due to throughput, go to your Orion Wi-Fi Supplier portal → Network Stats, and review the “Acceptance (Speed)” column. Orion Wi-Fi will still put a small percentage of traffic on that Network. Based on that small amount of traffic, Orion Wi-Fi will re-evaluate the quality of the Network. Once Orion Wi-Fi has evaluated the Network to be of sufficiently high quality, the Buyer’s traffic will start to connect to it again.
No Nearby Buyers
Orion Wi-Fi does not serve all US MNOs and MVNOs at this time. A full list is unavailable due to confidentiality, although we are always looking to expand to additional MNOs and MVNOs and build a unified industry experience.
Buyer Policy
Buyers can set policies on whether to buy from a given Network based on price, throughput, or other factors of their own choosing. However, aside from price and throughput, Orion Wi-Fi cannot share other Buyer specific reasons.
