Set Network and Venue details

Two key Orion concepts are the Network and the Venue:

  • Network represents a group of Wi-Fi access points on a shared LAN
  • Venue represents a physical location, such as a building

Adding Networks

Networks automatically appear in Orion, and cannot be manually added.

Orion Wi-Fi uses the NAS-Identifier provided by your network equipment as the Network name.  After connecting to your test network, you should see it appear within 1-2 days in the Network Stats page in the Orion Wi-Fi Supplier portal:

Note: the Network Stats page will only show Networks that have had traffic within the selected timeframe. To see Networks that have not had recent traffic on Orion Wi-Fi, see the Manage Networks and Network Verification pages.

Adding Venues

You now need to provide venue details for your test Network.

To add a single venue, click Venues > Add New Venue.  The Venue information page appears.  Provide as much of the requested information as possible:

Managing Networks

You can now update the metadata associated with each Network. Go to the Networks page under Manage, hover over the Network, click the 3-dot menu and click Edit.

Select the Venue associated with this network under Venue Name.  Provide as much of the requested information as possible:

Click on Update Network to save your changes:

Bulk Uploading Venues and Networks

To bulk upload metadata for multiple Venues and Networks, click "Upload Venues", then upload a spreadsheet (.xlsx or .csv) with exactly the following 20 columns:

Column Name Description
Venue ID

If you want a Network to be assigned to a new Venue, then leave this field blank for that row.

If you want to map a Network to an existing Venue, you can find your Venue ID by going to Venues → click the ⋮ on the row of the Venue whose ID you want --> click Edit --> look at the URL: https://orion.google/supply/Home#/suppliers/[SUPPLIER_ID]/venues/[VENUE_ID]/edit

NAS-ID

This must be populated.

If it matches an existing NAS-ID, then that Network’s metadata will be updated.

If it does not match an existing NAS-ID, then a new Network will be created.
