Group exempt, local chapter, & fiscally sponsored organizations (United States)

This article applies to organizations in the US only.

If your organization has nonprofit status through group exemption or as a chapter of a nonprofit, you may still be eligible for Google for Nonprofits. Learn more about IRS group exemptions.

Group Exempt organizations

Group exempt organizations must supply their own EIN, and documentation showing their group exemption number and that they are affiliated with a central organization that has 501c3 status that they can use. Once your organization has been verified, you will be able to activate Google products independently of the other organizations that share your group exemption.

Chapter organizations

Local chapters (or branches) of registered nonprofits that do not require their own legal entity and use their parent organization’s tax exemption status must use their parent 501c3 documentation and be officially recognized as a branch/chapter by the central organization.

Fiscally sponsored organizations

Fiscally sponsored organizations (FSOs) that do not have their own 501(c)(3) status and are not covered by group exemption are not eligible for Google for Nonprofits.
