About this column

This column typically carries the "Custom ID" or "Vendor ID". Partners who provide EIDR IDs in their avails (the "SeriesID" column) are able to make free use of the SeriesAltID column. If EIDR IDs are not provided, it's important that SeriesAltIDs are unique to the series. This helps ensure that a clear association exists between the unique ID and the intended assets.

SeriesAltIDs can consist of letters, numbers, or a combination of both. They must be in string format and can't contain any spaces or special characters (e.g. &*"<>:;#@, etc).

Example: "FIRSTDANCE_10112" is formatted properly.

Additional Google requirements

It's important to confirm SeriesAltIDs are accurate and unique before sending an avail. SeriesAltIDs should never change for a version. Once Google receives a SeriesAltID, it will be used as the unique SeriesAltID going forward.

Best practices

Include a SeriesAltID every time a series is on an avail.

Common mistakes

  • Using a space in the ID (e.g. "FIRSTDANCE 10112").
  • If SeriesAltIDs start with "0", ensure that none of the info within the Excel document are corrupted before providing the avail.
