Rich Communication Services (RCS) chats with businesses provide an enhanced messaging experience compared with SMS chats. They let you get customer support, track orders, and explore products. You also receive important updates from businesses.
Turn on RCS chats with businesses
- Open Google Messages

- Turn RCS chats on.
- If "RCS chats” isn’t there, tap Chat features.

Understand RCS chats with businesses
When you turn RCS chats on, your device can receive messages from businesses. However, businesses must have your explicit consent to send you RCS messages.

Initiate an RCS chat with a business
To start an RCS chat with a business, check for a QR code, link, or button:
- On the business’s website
- In the business’s app
- Within an email you’ve subscribed to
Some businesses may also use a QR code that you can scan online or at a physical store.
Identify verified businesses
Find a verification checkmark next to the business's name. This confirms the message is from a legitimate and verified business. This checkmark confirms that Google, a carrier, or a third-party provider has verified the business. Learn more about RCS chats with registered businesses.
