Merchant Center allows an online shop URL to be verified and claimed by only one account at a time. If you claimed your online shop in a new account, the claim on your older account would be automatically removed. This pauses any Shopping ads or Performance Max campaigns tied to the older account.
Note: Unlike sign-in issues, a conflict happens when you can log in but your advertising has stopped because ownership has moved to a different account.

Restore access to the older account (recommended)
This is the fastest way to recover your history and active campaigns. Don't reverify your online shop if you take this path, since the shop is already linked to this account.
- Search for notifications sent from the email address '[email protected]' to find which address originally created the account.
- Ask an existing admin on that account to go to Access and services within Settings and add your current email address as an admin.
- Accept the email invitation, then sign in. Your historical data, active product files and campaigns will be intact without requiring reverification.
- Close the duplicate account. After access is restored, close the new, empty account to avoid policy violations for multi-account usage.
Migrate completely to your new account
Use this method only if the original account admins are unreachable. For example, if the account was set up by a former employee or agency.
- Verify ownership: In your new Merchant Center account, follow the prompts to verify your online shop URL.
- Claim the online shop: Complete the claim process in the new account. This automatically detaches the online shop from the older account.
- Add product data: Set up your primary product files directly within the new account.
- Link to Google Ads: Unlink campaigns from the old Merchant Center ID in your Google Ads account settings. Link them to the new Merchant Center ID so that advertising can resume.
Note: The old account will remain inactive and safely orphaned after its website claim is removed.
