Recommended promotions can help you to:
- Get expert-level promotion advice: Our recommendations can forecast the estimated clicks for your products having the recommended promotion on Google surfaces. It helps you to choose the right timing, products and promotion value.
- Stay ahead of consumer trends: We identify products that are relevant for upcoming seasonal moments based on Google's real-time consumer intent signals, ensuring that your deals resonate with shoppers.
Eligibility
To receive recommended promotions, you must be an active US merchant in Merchant Centre who has created a promotion in Merchant Centre within the past 365 days.
How it works
The recommended promotions feature works behind the scenes to find the best promotion opportunities for your business. Here's how it works:
- It identifies opportunities: Google will proactively look for upcoming seasonal events and analyse your product catalogue to find relevant products.
- It calculates the optimal promotion: Google will calculate the best discount to offer, as well as pre-generate assets like promotion titles and coupon codes to make it a one-click process to adopt.
- It delivers the recommendation: The recommendation is shown to you on the Merchant Centre 'Overview' page.
- You're in control: You can review the recommendation, make any edits that you'd like and create the promotion with just a few clicks.
How to use recommended promotions
If you're an eligible merchant, you'll view recommendations on your Merchant Centre 'Overview' page.
When you receive a recommendation, you can:
- Review the details: Click on the recommendation to view the suggested products, discount and other details.
- Create the promotion in Merchant Centre: If you're happy with the recommendation, you can create the promotion from the recommendation card. The promotion builder on the 'Promotions' page will be pre-filled with the recommended details.
- Edit the promotion: You can edit any part of the recommended promotion before you create it, including the discount, products and duration. Use our new AI-powered product selector to add additional products by using natural language descriptors.
- Share with your team: You can share the recommendation with your team for feedback before you create the promotion by downloading the details as a markdown file and forwarding it to your team for final approval.
- Dismiss the recommendation: If you don't want to use the recommendation, you can dismiss it.
What to do after you've created a recommended promotion
After you've created a recommended promotion in Merchant Centre, there are two important steps that you should take:
- Set up the promotion on your website: You must also set up the promotion on your website. This ensures that the discount is applied when customers check out. The promotion will be disapproved if it's not also set up on your website before the promotion's effective start time.
- Boost your promotion with an ad campaign: To get the most out of your promotion, consider creating an ad campaign to drive traffic to your products. After you've created a promotion, you'll find a nudge to 'Boost promotion' to start your first ad campaign.
Google review process
All promotions, including those created from recommendations, are subject to Google's review process.
The review and approval process is typically completed within 12 hours of the promotion's effective start time, but it can take up to 24 hours.
