Best practices for Energy Star labeling

Use the certification [certification] attribute to indicate to Google that your product is ENERGY STAR certified. This is optional, but can help Google to better represent your product on some of our surfaces.

Sub-attributes

This certification uses the following attributes in the following way:

  • Authority [certification_authority] (Required): ”EPA” or ”Environmental_Protection_Agency
  • Name [certification_name] (Required): “ENERGY_STAR” for products with a regular Energy Star certification. “ENERGY_STAR_MOST_EFFICIENT” for products with the Energy Star Most Efficient certification.
  • Code [certification_code] (Required): The ENERGY STAR Unique ID of the certification. This ID can be found on Energy Star’s website in the link to the product certificate and in the body of the page. For example, an Energy Star certificate with ‘https://energystar.gov/productfinder/product/../123456’ would have the Unique ID 123456 and this ID can also be found under “Additional Model Identification”.
