Automations and product data optimizations

Automations feature is a standardized user interface designed to manage product data optimizations more effectively. The Automations page helps in automatically updating your product data in Merchant Center to match changes on your website, like price and availability.

How Automations work

Note: To use this feature, automatic updates should already be turned on in your Merchant Center account. If you have a multi-client account, each sub-account will have automatic updates enabled (sub-accounts can also specify their own settings).

The Automations page: It allows you to automatically update product price, availability, or condition, or any combination of the three to match your website. The “Automatic updates” to price, availability, and condition are enabled by default. You can also turn on “Automatic shipping updates” and “Automatic image improvements” in the “Automations” page.

The automations page displays all available automations, their status (On/Off), and impact metrics such as the number of optimized products and estimated increase in weekly clicks.

Note: For multi-client accounts (MCAs), the automatic updates are displayed in the “Automatic improvements” page.

Automation details: This dialogue box provides detailed information about each automation. This includes a description, "before and after" previews (if available), impact data, and the master toggle to activate or deactivate the automation.

Get started

  1. In your Merchant Center account, go to Products & store.

  2. Select Products and go to the Automations tab.
  3. From the "Automations” page, choose the specific automation you want to change. This could be automatic updates for price, availability, condition, and image improvements.
  4. Select View details and toggle the updates to turn on or off.

Note: This Automations feature was updated in September, 2025. When compared to the previous “Automatic improvements” page, it offers simple on/off toggles with detailed previews, impact data, and a clearer understanding of how automations affect product listings, enhancing control and transparency over your product data.
