Marketing methods (previously known as destinations or programme) are used in Merchant Centre to allow you to determine which Google products can show the items that you uploaded in your data source. You select the marketing method(s) for your data source when you first upload the data source to Merchant Centre.

Before you begin
- A Google Ads account is necessary to use Dynamic Remarketing for retail. Learn more about Dynamic Remarketing in Google Ads.
- If you are adding Dynamic Remarketing to your product data sources, note that Dynamic Remarketing is called 'Display ads' in product attribute specifications.
Activate Dynamic Remarketing in Merchant Centre
The Dynamic Remarketing marketing method is available to advertisers with Merchant Centre accounts as an add-on. To enable the Dynamic Remarketing add-on:
- In your Merchant Centre account, go to Settings
in the left navigation menu.
- Select Add-ons.
- Under the 'Discover' tab, go to the 'Dynamic Remarketing' card and select Add.
- If Dynamic Remarketing is already enabled in your Merchant Centre account, the 'Dynamic Remarketing' card will be available under the 'Your add-ons' tab of the 'Add-ons' section.
- If you cannot see the Dynamic Remarketing card in Merchant Centre, it's possible that:
- The display ads are disallowed by the CSS.
- The account type doesn't support this method. For example, it is a vehicle listing ads-only account.
Deactivating Dynamic Remarketing in Merchant Centre
To disable Dynamic Remarketing.
- In your Merchant Centre account, select Settings
in the left navigation menu.
- Select Add-ons.
- Select the Your add-ons tab.
- Navigate to the 'Dynamic Remarketing' card.
- Select Remove.
View data on the Dynamic Remarketing marketing method in your Merchant Centre account
If you have enabled Dynamic Remarketing, the following information will appear in your Merchant Centre account:
- List section on the Products page: You'll be able to filter the data on the Products tab to show items that use the Dynamic Remarketing marketing method. When you click onto the product details page for an item, you'll view the status of the item for the Dynamic Remarketing marketing method.
- Data sources page: Each time that you register a new product data source, you'll view the Dynamic Remarketing marketing method as an option for the products that can use the product data in that data source. If your data source contains any processing errors, you'll view an indication next to each error showing whether the Dynamic Remarketing marketing method is impacted by that issue. You can also select a product source to view its details and to adjust its 'Marketing methods' settings. In these settings, Dynamic Remarketing is called 'Display ads'.
- Products page: Above the list of products, click 'Add filter', select 'Marketing methods', then 'Dynamic Remarketing'. The filtered list will show which products are eligible to be served in Dynamic Remarketing.
Your Merchant Centre account may not reflect the most up-to-date information about disapprovals and serving for your items in the Dynamic Remarketing marketing method. For detailed reporting about your items and campaign status, review the reporting available in your Google Ads account.
