Deleting an account

You can remove the contents of your Google Merchant Center account, but the process differs for standalone accounts and sub-accounts. Review the following sections for the steps to delete your account. You can also permanently delete the account that's associated with Google Merchant Center. Learn how to delete your Google Account.

Before you begin

  • Ensure that you are signed in with an administrative user account.
  • Download any product data or reports that you want to keep. Learn how to download your product information.
  • Cancel any active transactions.

How to delete your standalone account

Deleting your standalone account will permanently remove all data and stop your products from being shown on Google within 48 hours.

  1. In your Merchant Center account, click Settings Tools and settings menu icon [Gear] in the left navigation menu.
  2. Select General.
  3. Under the 'Account setup' tab, scroll down and select Close Merchant Center account.
  4. Review the disclaimer and select 'Yes, I want to permanently close this Merchant Center account'.
  5. Click Close Merchant Center account.

How to delete your sub-accounts

If your account is part of a multi-client account (MCA) or managed by a third party, it must first be converted into a standalone account before it can be deleted.

  1. Unlink the account: Contact Google Support to request that the sub-account be unlinked from its parent account. You will need to provide formal authorisation. This process typically takes 24–48 hours.
  2. Close the account: Once the account has been converted to a standalone account, follow the steps above in 'How to delete your standalone account' to delete it.

Restoring a deleted account

If you've accidentally deleted your Merchant Center account, it may be possible to restore it within 30 days. You will need to contact Google Support and provide formal authorisation. Accounts deleted more than 30 days ago cannot usually be recovered and you will be required to create a new account.
