Benefits

Fast shipping helps customers decide to buy. When you let Google calculate your shipping speeds, you get the following benefits:

• Clarity and accuracy: Manual shipping speeds are often too conservative because they account for the most remote locations. Google calculates speeds based on the customer's exact location, making them more accurate.
• Easy setup: Once activated, your estimated delivery times automatically show for your products in ads and free listings.

How Google calculates

How it works

The total shipping speed visible to your customer is the handling time plus the transit time. It is unique to their delivery location and the products they’re buying. You provide the handling time, and Google calculates the transit time and overall shipping speed.

Google uses your warehouse locations, your customer’s delivery location, and your carrier’s shipping details to calculate a unique shipping speed for your products.

Using multiple ship-from locations

If your business ships products domestically within the US, France, or Germany, you can use multiple ship-from locations to offer faster shipping.

If you have multiple shipping policies for the same product, Google shows customers the speed for the cheapest shipping service that reaches their location. If multiple services have the same lowest cost, Google shows the fastest one.

If the cheapest service is calculated by Google and uses multiple ship-from locations, we show the fastest speed to the customer. We assume you have the same inventory in all ship-from locations. Because of this, we always use the closest ship-from location to calculate the speed. If your locations have different products, create a separate shipping policy for specific products or regions.

Eligibility

To use this feature, you need to:

• Have a ship-from location in the US, DE, or FR.
  • Only domestic shipping is eligible (for example, a ship-from location in DE can only ship to customers in DE).
• Use an approved carrier:
  • US: UPS, USPS, or FedEx
  • DE: DHL, DPD, GLS, or Hermes
  • FR: Colissimo, DHL, Geodis, or TNT

Set up carrier calculated transit times

1. In your Merchant Center account, go to Shipping and returns.
2. Under the “Shipping policies” tab, select Add shipping policy.
3. Under “Countries,” select either US, FR, or DE then select Continue.
   • Note: You can add other approved countries for your ship-from location here. If you ship to countries that don't support this feature, create a separate shipping policy for them.
4. Under “Products,” select the products that share these shipping costs and delivery options, then select Continue.
5. Under “Delivery times”, select the “By carrier” option.
6. Select Add Ship-from location. Enter your address, handling time, and order cut off information, then select Add.
   • You can add multiple ship-from locations within this step.
7. Select your carrier and carrier service level.
8. Select Continue to set up your shipping costs, then select Save.
