Important:
- This feature is only available to Alpha users.
- This feature requires an eligible Google Workspace subscription. Learn about Gemini features and plans.
- This feature is currently only available for Android, soon available on computer, iPhone, and iPad.
- This feature is available in the same languages as "take notes for me." Learn more about the available languages for Take notes for me in Google Meet.
Tip: This feature supports one language at a time. Multiple languages spoken in the same meeting aren't currently supported.
How to use the feature
You can now capture notes for an existing meeting space from a scheduled meeting, or for impromptu and casual meetings that are in person. You don't need to be in a meeting room to use this feature.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Meet app
.
- Tap Take Notes for Me
Start taking notes.
- You can set your device nearby and it will use Gemini to document the meeting.
- When notes are being taken, you can select Pause or Stop.
- If you select "Pause," it will pause both the transcription and note taking. If you want to resume taking notes again, tap Continue.
- If you select "Stop," a confirmation pop-up message shows, tap Stop taking notes.
Tips:
- If a user who is not in person wants to join the meeting, you can transition the meeting to a normal video call flow.
- You'll receive the notes doc in your email and in the Drive folder of whoever turned on the feature.
After you end the meeting
- The meeting notes document is generated shortly after the meeting ends and is saved in the Drive folder of the person who turned on the feature.
Tips:
- Meeting notes documents follow the Meet retention policy that your organization has configured.
- The meeting organizer must have the Workspace edition that includes "take in person notes for me."
Troubleshooting issues
Sometimes, you may not be able to select this feature. It can be due to the following reasons:
- The meeting organizer doesn't have an eligible Workspace Edition.
- This feature may not be enabled for you by your Admin.
- Smart feature control is disabled. Learn how to enable Smart features.
Sometimes, the meeting summary can be incomplete, inaccurate, or not generated. It can be due to the following reasons:
- Meeting content may not have followed Google Meet Acceptable Use Policy.
- There may have been connectivity issues during the meeting.
- The meeting may not have been the recommended length of 15 minutes or more.
