Tip: This feature supports one language at a time. Multiple languages spoken in the same meeting aren't currently supported.
In Google Meet, you can use AI to run efficient and productive meetings. With this feature, you can:
- Automatically capture meeting notes organized in Google Docs and share with your team.
- If you join late, catch up during the meeting with "Summary so far."
- As the organizer, receive an email with a link to the recap shortly after the meeting ends.
- The link is also available in the Calendar event.
Turn settings on & off for "take notes for me"
Based on your Admin’s setting, for certain meetings, "take notes for me" may be on automatically.
You can automatically turn on "take notes for me" for some meetings:
- On your computer, go to meet.google.com.
- In the top right corner, click Settings
.
- On the left column, click Meeting records
.
- Under "Automatic note taking for all future meetings," select an option:
- Off: "take notes for me" isn’t automatically added to any of the events you host.
- For all scheduled meetings I host: "take notes for me" is automatically added to all meetings the organizer hosts.
- For all scheduled meetings I host with 3+ guests: “take notes for me” is automatically added to meetings the organizer hosts when the 3rd guest is added (including the organizer).
- Click Save.
- After “take notes for me” is on and you’re in the pre-meeting Meet greenroom, the page displays whether the feature will be enabled or is already on if someone is in the Meet call.
- You can click on the notification to open "Meeting tools" to start or stop "take notes for me" and transcription, unless you’re an external guest or Host controls are applied to the meeting.
- Tip: If someone has already joined the Meet call, you can't change these settings.

Adjust meeting language & share settings
For meetings you host, you can adjust both language and sharing settings within the Meet call and Google Calendar.
To adjust or select the language within Calendar:
- On your computer, go to Google Calendar.
- Select your event or meeting.
- In the pop-up menu, click Edit event
.
- Add Google Meet video conferencing.
- Select Video call options
.
- On the left column, click Meeting records
.
- Check the box next to "take notes with Gemini."
- In the "Select a language dropdown," choose the language for your meeting.
Tip: Some languages are currently only available to Alpha users. Click Select a language.
To adjust or change the sharing settings:
- On your computer, go to Google Calendar.
- Select your event or meeting.
- In the pop-up menu, click Edit event
.
- Add Google Meet video conferencing.
- Select Video call options
.
- On the left column, click Meeting records
.
- Below the checkboxes, find the section "take notes for me sharing default settings."
- Select from the sharing options:
- All invited guests, including those outside of my organization: Share notes with everyone.
- Invited guests in my organization: Share notes with internal participants.
- Hosts and co-hosts only: Share notes only with the host and co-hosts.
