Use Dynamic tiles
Dynamic tiles make meetings from conference rooms better. If your room has Google Meet hardware, you can use this layout. It gives up to 3 people their own video tile, so everyone is easier to see.
Important:
- You can only use Dynamic tiles for up to 3 in-room participants. The Dynamic tiles automatically collapse back into a single room view tile if:
- A fourth participant is detected in the room.
- Participants are seated too closely together or too much movement is detected.
- If you’re in a room with glass walls and there are other people who walk by, Dynamic tiles can occasionally detect someone outside your room. If this happens, it’s recommended that you turn the feature off to reduce distractions for other meeting participants. If this happens a lot in a particular room, you may even want to tell an IT admin in your organization that the room might not be suitable for Dynamic tiles so they can ensure it’s not on by default.
- Your organization’s admin determines if Dynamic tiles is on by default when you join a meeting, or if you must turn it on manually for each meeting. To change the default setting, contact your Workspace Admin. Learn to set default camera framing for meeting rooms.
- If you’re a participant inside a physical meeting room, you can turn Dynamic tiles on or off for a meeting.
- To do this: On the right side of the touch controller, turn Dynamic tiles on or off.
- To do this: On the right side of the touch controller, turn Dynamic tiles on or off.
The feature is also available on touchscreen devices and devices without a touch controller that rely on remote control.
Use Face Match for Companion mode
Google Meet's Dynamic tiles help everyone in hybrid meetings. To make your hybrid meetings even better, you can use Companion mode to identify your face so your Dynamic tile shows your name instead of the room name. This makes sure everyone is represented fairly, no matter where they join the meeting from.

Important:
- Face match is accessible only when using Companion mode.
- You can only use Face Match when Dynamic tiles is on.
- If you join a meeting first and then turn on Dynamic Tiles, your checked-in companion mode device will prompt you to enable Face Match.
- To use Face Match, you need to check-in to a room first.
- Your face needs to be visible to the camera in your conference room.
- If your face disappears from view for an extended period of time, you’ll get a “Meet lost track of you” error message in Companion Mode and need to rematch once your face is visible again.
- After you identify your face, your Dynamic tile is automatically labeled with your name.
- If your tile is labeled as “Maybe: [Your name],” it’s likely because you just checked into the room and haven’t identified your face yet.
The Face match model runs entirely on the device to associate your face with your Dynamic tile. The model is capable of face detection only, not face recognition.
