To improve your drafts, you can use Gemini in Gmail to proofread and get advanced grammar, tone, and style suggestions.
What you need
Important:
- This feature is available only in the US and in English for Google AI users.
- If you have a Workspace plan, it's available globally in English only.
To use Proofread:
- For personal Google Accounts: You need an eligible Google AI plan:
- For work or school accounts: You need an eligible Google Workspace plan. Learn more about Gemini features and plans.
Accept suggestions in a draft
- In your draft, click an underlined word or phrase to open the suggestion card.
- Review the change:
- To use the suggestion, click it.
- To dismiss the suggestion, click Ignore

- To give feedback on a suggestion, click Report an issue
.
Tips:
- When you ignore a suggestion, it doesn’t reappear for the same word or phrase unless you change the text.
- To undo a change:
- On Windows: Press Ctrl + Z.
- On Mac: Press Cmd + Z.
- On screen readers:
- To find underlined words, use your arrow keys.
- Select Tab

Turn off Proofread
Important: You won't get grammar suggestions when you turn off Proofread.
- On your computer, open Gmail.
- At the top right, click Settings
See all settings.
- At the top, click General.
- Next to “Grammar,” click Grammar suggestions off.
