You can write or say notes in Keep and find them from any device. Learn how to create and edit notes using your Google Assistant.
Write a note
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Keep app
.
- At the bottom right, tap Create
.
- Select a type of note:
- Audio
- Image
- Drawing
- List
- Text
- Audio
- Add a title.
- When you’re done, tap Back
.
Tip: You can also create text notes on a single click when you single tap Create . To enable this setting:
- At the top left, tap Menu

- Under “Note creation,” enable Create text notes by default.
- You can always long press to create other note types.
Edit a note
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Keep app
.
- Tap the note you want to edit.
- Make changes to a note.
- To undo an action, tap Undo
.
- To redo an action, tap Redo
.
- To undo an action, tap Undo
- When you're done, tap Back
.
Write a note with formatting
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Keep app
.
- At the bottom right, tap Create
Text
.
- Add a note and title.
- Select the text you want to format.
- Tap Format
.
- Format the text.
- To bold: Tap Bold
.
- To italicize: Tap Italic
.
- To underline: Tap Underline
.
- To apply a heading style to a paragraph: Tap

- To bold: Tap Bold
Remove formatting
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Keep app
.
- Tap the note with formatting that you want to edit.
- Select the text you want to change.
- Tap Format
.
- Tap Remove formatting
.
To remove a heading style:
- Tap on the paragraph with a heading style.
- Tap Format
.
Create a note with your voice
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Keep app
.
- At the bottom right, tap Create
Text
.
- At the bottom left of the note, tap Create
Recording.
- At the bottom, tap Speak
.
- When the microphone appears, speak your note.
- To listen to it, tap Play
.
- To remove it, tap Delete
.
- To listen to it, tap Play
