Use Keep Notes in Google Messages

You can use Keep Notes in Google Messages to quickly create and share notes within your conversations. While in the chat, you can share text and lists.

Important: Google Messages is only available on Android devices, but iPhone and iPad can receive messages from Google Messages through iMessage.

Create & share Keep Notes

Important: When you share Keep Notes in a group chat, everyone in the group gets access to the note, even if they leave the group chat. Learn how to share notes, lists & drawings.

  1. Open Google Messages .
  2. Open a chat.
  3. At the bottom left, tap Add and then Keep Notes Keep.
  4. In the Keep window, write your note or create a list.
  5. When you're done, tap Send Send.
    • For Android users, in your chat, you can preview your shared Keep Notes in a chat message bubble. The preview updates as edits are made.

Edit shared Keep Notes

  1. Open Google Messages .
  2. Open a chat.
  3. Tap the shared note that you want to edit.
  4. In the Keep window, make your edits.
  5. When you're done, tap Close .

Tip: You may need to request edit access from the owner of the shared notes.

Encryption & Keep Notes

While end-to-end encrypted messages can only be read by people in your chat, shared notes are hosted by Google Keep under Google’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
