Google Ad Grants setup guide

Access your Google Ad Grants account

If your organization was recently approved for Ad Grants but you haven't accessed the account:

  • Look for the invitation email: Once you have been approved for Ad Grants, you will receive two additional emails sent to the email address registered during the application process. The first will invite you to access your Ad Grants account and the second will invite you to accept your payments profile. Note: As a nonprofit organization, you will not be charged. This is only a requirement for account access.
  • Check all folders: Thoroughly check your inbox, spam, junk, promotions, and any other filtered folders for this email.
  • Allow time: While often quick, please allow up to 3 business days after receiving your official Ad Grants approval notification for this invitation email to arrive.

If you've waited the suggested amount of time, checked all folders, and confirmed your approval status in your Google for Nonprofits account, please visit Check your Google for Nonprofits account status.

Important: Ad Grants Uses the Google Ads Platform

  • Use the Right Email: You must log in with the Google Account email address that is listed as an administrator in your Google for Nonprofits account and was used for your Ad Grants application/setup.
  • Identify Your Account: Your Ad Grants account has a unique 10-digit Customer ID (XXX-XXX-XXXX). When logged into Google Ads, ensure you have selected the correct account, which will typically be named after your nonprofit or as you designated during setup.
  • No Separate Login: Google Ad Grants operates using the standard Google Ads platform. There isn't a unique "Ad Grants login page." You access your grant account via the main Google Ads portal.

Additional tips to access your Ad Grants account

Verify you're using the correct email address

  • Confirm admin email: If you've never accessed the account before, double-check which email address(es) are listed as administrators in your primary Google for Nonprofits account. You must use one of these designated emails to access the Ad Grants account.

  • Avoid incorrect emails: Using a different, personal Gmail address or an email associated only with a standard (paid) Google Ads account will not grant access to your Ad Grants account and may redirect you elsewhere.

Ensure you're logging in at ads.google.com

If you’re navigating multiple accounts, avoid redirection

Many users have multiple Google Accounts (e.g., personal, work) or manage multiple Google Ads accounts (paid and grant) under one email. This can cause confusion:

  • Use the account switcher: If you log in to ads.google.com and see a standard paid account or the wrong account:
    • Look for your profile icon/picture in the top right corner of Google Ads.
    • Click on it to reveal an account switcher.
    • Select the correct Google Ad Grants account (check the name and Customer ID).
  • Sign out and sign in: If switching accounts doesn't work, try this:
    • Sign out of all Google Accounts in your browser.
    • Close and reopen your browser.
    • Go directly to the Google Ads login.
    • Sign in only with the correct Google Account email address designated as an admin for your Ad Grants account.

Clear browser cache and cookies
